Travis Bennett: Missionary to India

Bennett Biography

Conversion
Travis is originally from Buffalo, New York. He was raised in an Episcopalian family and grew up ignorant of the true Gospel of Salvation. When he was 15, his family moved to Fuquay-Varina, NC and Travis was enrolled in Hilltop Christian School. It was at Hilltop that Travis heard the Gospel for the first time and in November 1998 he received Christ as his personal Savior. That summer, Travis answered the call to preach and was also baptized. God used the tremendous missions emphasis of Hilltop Free Will Baptist Church and Travis’ subsequent attendance at Southeastern Free Will Baptist College to lead Travis to surrender his life to serve God on a foreign field. Travis graduated from Southeastern in 2007 with a degree in Bible, Pastoral Theology and Missions.

Becky trusted Christ as Savior when she was 6 years old at Travelers’ Rest Free Will Baptist Church in Altha, FL, where her father, Carlie Lloyd pastored. When she was 9, her family moved to Madison, Wisconsin to serve as home missionaries. Becky graduated in 2005 from Southeastern FWB College with a degree in Elementary Education and English.

Early Ministry
The first experiences Travis had in ministry were at his home church, Hilltop. There as a teenager, Travis served as a Bus Captain and worked in their Sunday and Wednesday night children’s programs.  While at Southeastern, Travis served as the Youth Pastor of Lighthouse Free Will Baptist Church in Siler City, NC, for a year before returning to Hilltop for the next few years working in their Children’s Church, Sunday School, and Bus Ministry. As part of his college requirements, Travis spent the summer of 2004 as an intern for the missionary with whom he will now serve. God greatly used his experiences that summer to cement his desire to serve God on a foreign field. Travis worked as the Associate Pastor of Calvary Free Will Baptist Church in Fayetteville, NC during his last year of college and following his graduation (August 2006-August 2009). Travis helped beginand then direct Calvary’s Bus, Children’s, Youth, and Young Adult ministries.
